Profile
Teri Merrick, Ph.D., is an associate professor of philosophy and Chair of the Department of Theology and Philosophy. Areas of special research include Kantian epistemology and the history of analytic philosophy. The article "What Frege meant when he said: Kant is right about geometry", recently published in Philosophia Mathematica is representative of her work in these areas. Besides tracking Kant's influence on 19th century German philosophy, Teri is interested in keeping alive the Kantian project of reconciling contemporary scientific knowledge with moral and religious experience. This motivates her current fascination with Hermann Cohen's Marburg School of neo-Kantianism and the debate over methodological naturalism.
