Profile
Julie Pusztai is an instructor in the School of Nursing. After eight years working as clinical instructor and assistant to the founder of the Neighborhood Wellness Center (NWC), Pusztai is now the director of the center and continues as an instructor in the undergraduate community health nursing course. The NWC is open to the community where Pusztai and the nursing students provide health promotion, wellness education, and appropriate referrals. The NWC is currently implementing a diabetes prevention program in the Azusa community, providing residents with education regarding nutrition and physical activity.

Professional Experience
Clinical Work
Registered Nurse, Medical-Surgical Nursing, 1977-1979. Staff RN and relief charge nurse in local community hospital. Served three months as short term missionary at small rural hospital in Shell, Ecuador.

Public Health Nurse, Field PHN for Orange and San Bernardino Counties, 1979-1988, 1999-2001. Various roles in PHN specialties such as child sexual abuse, high risk infants, TB and communicable disease follow-up, Spanish speaking case loads, pre- and postnatal care for prison inmates, parenting education for inmates, senior citizen health clinics, school health, SIDS follow-up, child abuse prevention, family health.

Clinical Instructor for Community Health Nursing, 1999-present. Instruction and supervision of senior level community health nursing students at the Neighborhood Wellness Center and other community health settings.

Assistant to the Director of the Neighborhood Wellness Center, 1999-2007. Assisting in managing and developing the programs and outreach of the center through health assessment, health education and disease prevention, and referral services for drop-in visitors.

Consulting Engagements
Consultant and Reviewer for Medcom, 2007. Reviewed community health curriculum for nursing education development company.

Industry Experience
Reviewer and Editor for CINAHL 2006-2007. Reviewed and edited short disease articles for brief but comprehensive disease information product for nurses and health professionals.

Nurse Indexer for RNdex and CINAHL databases, 1996-2007. Reviewed and indexed a broad range of nursing and healthcare literature for professional database.
