Exploring Mars: JPL Engineer to Speak at APU

Azusa Pacific University’s Center for Research in Science (CRIS) and the Department of Math and Physics welcomes Leo Bister, for a presentation on “Roving Mars: A Team Member’s Perspective.”

WHY:
Leo Bister will discuss Martian folklore, the motivation of explorers and scientists of the past, and the adventure of the Mars Exploration Rover. He will also share images from the surface of Mars and preview the 2009 launch of the new Mars Science Laboratory.
FACTS:
- Bister has worked at JPL since 1983, serving on the Cassini, SeaWinds, Mars Exploration Rover (MER), and Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) projects. He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
