C.H.A.M.P. Graduation Celebrates Local Students

Azusa Pacific University’s Center for Academic Service Learning and Research and more than 250 local fourth grade students
WHAT:
College Headed and Mighty Proud (C.H.A.M.P.) graduation is the culminating event for a nine-week service learning project that partners undergraduate Teacher Education majors with fourth grade students from the Azusa Unified School District (AUSD).

WHY:
Through the C.H.A.M.P. Program, APU students encourage local fourth graders to pursue higher education. Founded in 1991, C.H.A.M.P. is a collaborative effort between APU and local elementary schools that encourage children talk about their future dreams and goals of attending college.
FACTS:
- Fourth grade students from Lee Elementary, Mountain View Elementary, and Powell Elementary will graduate at this event.
- Administrators from AUSD and APU and members of the Foothills Sunrise Rotary and Azusa Rotary Clubs will attend. Mariachi de Azusa will perform at the start of the program.
