Global Vision Week Brings Global Perspective to APU

AZUSA, Calif. –

Each year, APU hosts Global Vision Week to introduce and expand global perspective to students, faculty and staff. The following sampling of events taking place Oct. 30-Nov. 3. For a complete schedule of events, visit www.apu.edu/iom/owm/globalvision/.

From 7-9 a.m. each day, students, faculty and staff will gather at the university’s Prayer Chapel on East Campus to pray for a specific area of the world, including Africa, South America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Monday, October 30
Chapel speaker Dan Waite hosts the “Discover” chapel at 9:30 a.m. Waite, director of the Office of Study Abroad, brings experience and perspective from his studies and travels throughout the world. Following chapel, from 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., APU hosts a Study Abroad Fair on Cougar Walk to inform students about opportunities to study in Oxford, China, and more.

Tuesday, October 31
The Office of Ministry and Service (MAS) will host a Matheteis Forum from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to discuss the “Darfur Crisis” in the LAPC Board Room on East Campus.

Wednesday, November 1
A Missionaries and World Market Fair will take place on Cougar Walk from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. That evening, at 5:30 p.m. on Trinity Lawn, APU hosts a dinner and documentary night. The documentary, Beyond the Gates of Splendor, tells the story of five young missionaries martyred through their efforts to reach the violent Waodani tribe in Ecuador.

Thursday, November 2
A film screening of Amandla! A Revolution in Four Part Harmony, tells the story of black South African freedom music and the central role it played in the battle against 38 years of apartheid. A question-and-answer session follows with the executive producer, a United Nations Representative, a South African national, and the vice president of APU’s Black Student Awareness. The screening takes place at 7 p.m. in Munson Chapel on East Campus.

Friday, November 3
A global fest dinner will take place on Trinity Lawn from 6-8 p.m. The dinner includes food from various cultures accompanied by festive music.
