Night of Percussion

A Symphonic Collaboration
APU’s School of Music and Lake Avenue Church host a special concert event featuring Maestro Eduard Topchian, highly-acclaimed conductor of the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra. The APU Symphony Orchestra and the Lake Avenue Chamber Symphony combine to create a 100-member symphony orchestra under the direction of Topchian, joined by an Armenian dance troupe and a gallery exhibiting works by local Armenian artists. General admission tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students with valid identification. The event takes place at 7:30 p.m. at Lake Avenue Church, 393 N. Lake Avenue, Pasadena.

Symphonic Band
The APU Symphonic Band presents an evening of wind music featuring pieces by Frank Tichelli, Charles Ives, and others. Tichelli’s American Elegy, Abracadabra, and Apollo Unleashed from Symphony No. 2 and Charles Ives’ Variations on America are among the masterworks that will be highlighted under the direction of Alexander Koops, conductor. The event takes place at the Wilden Hall Atrium located on APU’s East Campus, 901. E. Alosta Ave., Azusa, and is free of charge.

Jazz Ensemble
Jazz is one of the fastest growing areas in the School of Music, and this ensemble takes the lead in bringing excellence in performance, with David Beatty as director. The event takes place at 7:30 p.m. in Munson Chapel on APU’s East Campus, 901 E. Alosta Ave., Azusa, and is free of charge.
