More Than 500 to Graduate at APU's Summer Commencement

AZUSA, Calif. –

On July 25, more than 500 students will graduate from Azusa Pacific University during summer commencement. The ceremony will recognize 92 bachelor's degree recipients, as well as 343 master's degree and 92 degree completion recipients. Three individuals will receive doctoral degrees.

The summer commencement ceremony takes place at 7 p.m. in Cougar Stadium on APU's East Campus, located at 901 E. Alosta Ave, Azusa.

APU alumnus Steve Connor will serve as the keynote speaker for the ceremony. Connor is the director of Sports Outreach International and serves on the International Sports Coalition's Leadership Council. He aims to use this role to network and build Christian organizations in the U.S. and abroad. Much of his work involves community transformation through sports in areas that have been hit by disaster, war, famine, and AIDS.

Connor was a Division 1 scholarship athlete and an NAIA two-time All American at APU, graduating in 1984 with a degree in theology. He has been an adjunct professor at Wheaton College in Illinois, and a guest lecturer at various universities and NFL and NCAA chapels. He also has published eight books, including A Sporting Guide to Eternity (2003), which was short-listed for UK Christian Book of the Year and has been a Wesley Owen bestseller.
