Connecting Students to College: It Is Possible

More than 250 prospective students, parents, and church leaders from diverse and urban communities.
WHAT:
The fifth annual Connection Preview Day is an open house event that aims to educate under-represented ethnic populations about Azusa Pacific University and college admissions in general.

Program begins at 9 a.m.
WHY:
“Our goal in pursuing this event is to educate our young scholars of color about the benefits of higher education and encourage them to pursue a college career,” said Jessica Barron, diversity and outreach recruitment counselor. “APU wants to recruit more ethnically diverse students and to create a stronger bond with their home churches.”
FACTS:
- The Connection event consists of educational workshops about the academic and social components of going to college, campus tours to see dorms and classroom facilities, and opportunities to meet and speak with faculty and professors.
- This year, Connection students have the opportunity to attend Gospel Sing later in the evening. This popular annual event brings together gospel choirs from Southern California for a night of music and worship.
