APU Professor Honored with Excellence and Leadership Award

AZUSA, Calif. –
Huntington Beach, Calif. resident William Yarchin, Ph.D., associate dean of Azusa Pacific University's School of Theology, recently received the Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award. The award, which grants $2,000 and is accompanied by a clock, honors Yarchin's passion for enabling students to excel to their highest potential and for continual leadership among the theology department.
"I am very fortunate," said Yarchin about the significance of receiving this award. "To work among people who are tirelessly dedicated to helping students positively impact the world in Jesus' name is an honor."
Yarchin earned a B.A. in Religious Studies from Southern California College and received an M.A. and Ph.D. in Religion from Claremont Graduate School, Claremont, Calif. He has been an adjunct and assistant professor at APU's School of Theology and Department of Religion and Philosophy before becoming a professor in teh Department of Biblical Studies in 2002. In 2003, he was named associate dean of the undergraduate division of Haggard School of Theology. Yarchin has been the recipient of numerous Creative Education Grants and other educational research grants during his tenure at APU, and was named "Outstanding Professor of the Year" three times.
