APU Guest Artist Exhibit Features Acrylic Paintings
November 9, 2006
AZUSA, Calif. –
Azusa Pacific University's Department of Art will host an art show from Nov. 6-17 in the Duke Academic Complex gallery. Guest artist Midge Hyde will present a sample of her work. Many pieces featured in the gallery were created with acrylic paint.
La Mesa native, Midge Hyde’s artwork inspired Carrie Holmes and Elizabeth Root, curators of the event, to host the show. “I hope to bring the idea of color as a method of healing,” said Hyde. Hyde brings both experience and training to the show. She earned a bachelor of arts in Fine Arts and Liberal Arts in printmaking and painting from San Diego State University, San Diego, Calif.
The reception also includes a booth of handmade jewelry designs by Natalie L. Davis and live music by The Austin James Band.
A reception will be held on Fri., Nov. 10, from 7-9:30 p.m. For more information, contact the Department of Art at (626) 815-6000, Ext. 3726.
