APU Showcases Fifth Annual Faith and Media Arts Festival

WHAT:
The Department of Theater, Film, and Television celebrates its fifth annual Faith and Media Arts Festival on October 6 with special guest speaker and industry professional Ken Wales. Workshops include “Directing Actors for Film and Television,” “Improv,” “Auditioning,” and “Shooting in Hi-Def.” The event also includes an alumni showcase and a special screening of Dear Francis.

WHY:
The workshops bring professionals from the media field to help students take the step from APU into the entertainment industry.
FACTS:
- The Department of Film, Theater, and Television consists of the Theater Arts Program and the Cinema and Broadcast Arts Program.
- Guest speaker Ken Wales has worked on many television and film productions as a producer, including Amazing Grace and Door to Door, and television series Christy, Cagney & Lacey, and East of Eden.
- Dear Francis, a documentary by APU alumnus Brent Gudgel, chronicles the journey of two college students as they venture into the world’s most HIV infected nation, Swaziland, Africa. The film captures the real and startling truth about the conditions that surround the HIV/AIDS pandemic as the students befriend the Swazi people, while offering hope for the nation’s future.
