Azusa Pacific has an excellent benefits package! We are pleased to offer full medical, vision, dental, life insurance, and reimbursement plan options to all full-time employees. Full-time employees are those who are regularly assigned to work 30 hours or more per week. You are eligible for coverage as of the first day of employment. There is no waiting period, and no exclusion for pre-existing conditions if you are a timely enrollee. Please note that you are not enrolled until you attend a full New Employee Orientation meeting and submit your enrollment forms to Human Resources.
Insurance Benefits:
Medical and vision coverage is offered through Kaiser Permanente (HMO) and PacifiCare of California (POS). Delta Premier Dental provides group dental coverage.
Reliance Standard Life Insurance Company underwrites our basic life, accidental death, and dismemberment policies covering employees, as well as the optional voluntary life policies which are available to you, your spouse, and dependents who are age 19 or younger, or full-time students under the age of 26.
Fortress Benefits Administrators handles our flexible spending plans through which you may set aside up to $10,000 per year for health care expenses and/or $5,000 per year for dependent care expenses at "pre-tax" rates.
Retirement Benefits:
Azusa Pacific University invites you to participate in TIAA CREF, a defined contribution retirement plan, after you have been employed here for 12 months. (If certain criteria is met, the one year waiting period may be waived.) Eligible employees will contribute a minimum of 3 percent gross base earnings to the plan and the university will contribute 8 percent.Tuition Benefits:
Staff - The eligible full-time staff member and/or spouse is entitled to receive a 100 percent tuition discount on the first three units in a given semester and receive a 75 percent discount on an additional three units taken during the fall and spring semesters. A 50 percent discount may also be applied toward six units taken during the summer. The eligible staff member and/or spouse may each carry a maximum of 6 units per semester/summer.
Unmarried dependents under age 25 receive a tuition scholarship of 50 percent during the fall and spring semesters. This benefit will increase 10 percent per year for each year of employment.
Married children of eligible staff members are eligible for a scholarship of $1,250 per semester as full-time undergraduate students.

The discount applies to tuition only. Summer session tuition discount is 50 percent, for undergraduate and graduate work. Tuition discounts are NOT available for faculty and spouses enrolled in APU doctoral programs.

Please note that while you are eligible for all insurance benefits on your first day of employment, coverage is not automatic. All employees must attend a full benefits orientation meeting and submit completed enrollment forms to the Office of Human Resources before coverage may begin. Please contact Human Resources to attend an upcoming benefits orientation meeting. If you wish to decline benefits, please notify Human Resources immediately by calling (626) 815-4526.
