Profile
Yvette Latunde’s passion is equipping future and current educators to better serve children with disabilities and diverse backgrounds. She has worked in special education for the past 12 years. She has served in numerous roles in education including: early childhood education interventionist, public school teacher for interrelated and self-contained learning disabilities (K–12), special education director, coordinator of disabilities services for a non profit (preschool), and instructor for continuing education courses related to IDEA and challenging behaviors.
Yvette has extensive experience leading self-assessments and utilizing tools to improve teacher and classroom quality. Her personal background as a parent of a child with severe disabilities, coupled with knowledge of the law, administrative perceptions, teacher perceptions, and best practices for inclusion, facilitates her vision for a better future for children with disabilities.
Yvette serves APU as a site coordinator and co-chair of the moderate/severe disabilities committee. She is always excited to assist non profits, private schools, and churches in enhancing educational leaders’ capacity to serve children with special needs and improve the quality of overall services.
