Frequently Asked Questions

How many units should/can I take each nine-week term?
Students who take six units (two classes) every term can complete the program in just over a year. Those who take three units (one class) every term will finish the program in a little over two years. There are five terms in a year (Fall I, Fall II, Spring I, Spring II, and Summer). Academic advising is completed within EDUC 511.

What is the class availability?
Classes are offered at five sites throughout Southern California. Contact program director, Joanne Gilbreath, jgilbreath@apu.edu for course schedule.

What is the average class size?
Each class generally has 10-15 students.

Is there an application deadline?
No. Students may take up to two of the core courses while waiting for admission. However, after admission, students must purchase a designated laptop before they can register for additional educational technology classes. The first educational technology course must be EDUC 511.

What is the cost per unit?
The cost is $510 per unit for the 2008-09 academic year. Current information can be obtained in the Graduate Catalog under Student Financial Services.

How many transfer units are accepted?
Up to six semester units.

Is a thesis required?
No. All final requirements are to be fulfilled in EDUC 511.

How high is the demand for this degree and occupation in the marketplace?
Nearly all districts are seeking educators with expertise in technology.

What services do you offer as a convenience to the graduate student?
Classes are small, meeting times are set with working professionals in mind, and courses are offered at multiple sites throughout Southern California. In addition, several courses occur online as well as face-to-face.
