Message from the Dean

Fred Garlett, Ed.D.Welcome to the Center for Adult and Professional Studies (CAPS), an academic unit offering accelerated, evening programs for working professionals who want to finish a bachelor's degree or earn a master's degree in a convenient, efficient format. CAPS programs offer a unique alternative to traditional residential degree programs with classes meeting one night a week, and program completion in 15-20 months while working full time.

Each CAPS program focuses on key multidisciplinary concepts useful in working with people in all fields. Students examine these universal principles together, adding the invaluable contribution of their own rich perspectives. This concept of reality-based learning integrates textbook theory with students' work and life experiences, making course work and acquired skills immediately applicable to the workplace in both profit and nonprofit organizations.

Choose from a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership (including online), Management Information Systems or Computer Information Systems, or Christian Leadership; a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development (for prospective elementary and special education teachers); or the Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program. For those seeking an advanced degree, the Master of Arts in Leadership and Organizational Studies sharpens the managerial and communication skills of professionals pursuing leadership roles.

As a full service, one-stop shop, we offer admissions, registrar, financial aid, advising, and other academic support services. The support of our office staff and the accelerated format of these programs allow the working professional to effectively manage the challenges of completing a degree while contributing to their family, organization, and community.

Please explore our website and read about the program(s) that are of interest to you. In addition to online programs, several of our programs are offered at our regional centers throughout Southern California. We look forward to hearing from you.
