This spring, senior director Chip Hurd brings The Bible Experience Live to APU to enlighten and inspire the APU community and university friends while bringing in scholarship funds for students yet to come. Several cast members will partner with the APU University Choir and Orchestra to present a unique glimpse into one of the most powerful Gospel-spreading phenomena in recent history.
“APU is the perfect place to bring The Bible Experience to the people,” said Hurd. “The first time I walked onto campus, I saw the words God First prominently displayed. It wasn’t just a plaque that could be removed someday, it was part of the structure. When I got to know the people who work and learn at APU, I understood that the commitment to keeping God at the center permeated the whole way of life there. I was so moved, I found myself gazing up at the cross and weeping.
“But still I asked God why He was bringing me to a place full of believers. Shouldn’t we be concentrating on those still searching for the Truth?” she asked. “Then God answered me very clearly. He said, ‘This is a place that puts Me first, and since that is your mission, too, this is your new assignment.’ After praying some more, I also realized that even at APU there may be some still seeking. God has asked me to use The Bible Experience to bring people to Him and bring people back to Him. Because of the celebrity factor, the energy, and the music, this is an irresistible match for the younger generation and makes perfect sense on the APU campus. My prayer is that through this experience, students, faculty, and staff alike will see and hear how the past works out in the modern world, and that they will connect with Christ on a daily walk. I just know the Holy Spirit will fall upon this place and cause a great stirring in the souls of those who come to hear the Word.”
