THIS YEAR: An excellent defensive back who will be a key figure in the Cougar defense, sophomore Trevor Love is an impact player ... Terrific athlete who is smart about the game ... Can cover a lot of ground and hits hard.
2007: As a 2007 redshirt freshman, appeared in the Cougars' first 8 games, all off the bench, before an injury ended his season with 3 weeks to go ... Finished with 22 tackles (9 solo) ... Was playing his best football of the season when the injury occurred, registering a career-high 6 tackles in the victories over Southern Nazarene and Humboldt State ... Recovered a fumble vs. Southern Oregon that led to a Cougar field goal.
2006: Redshirted his first season at Azusa Pacific.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a 2-way standout at Santa Fe Christian High in Solana Beach, Calif., where he was coached by Brian Sipe, former NFL quarterback ... Named All-Coastal League 3 consecutive years, including league offensive player of the year as a 2005 senior ... Also named All-CIF second team in 2005 when he was he had 51 tackles (33 solo) for the 10-3 Eagles ... As a running back, rushed for a team-leading 912 yards on 72 carries (12.7 avg.) and scored 9 TDs ... Best offensive game came in a 34-33 victory over El Cajon Valley, rushing for 164 yards on 13 carries with 2 receptions, including a game-winning 8-yard TD catch ... Defensively, his best game came in a victory over El Capitan High when he tallied a season-high 10 tackles (5 solo) ... As a 2004 junior, was a key player on the Eagles 12-1 team that won the CIF Division IV championship ... Rushed for 532 yards on the season, scoring 4 TDs ... Defensively, tallied 44 tackles (29 solo), 3 interceptions and 2 fumble recoveries ... Also lettered in baseball (second base/outfield) and soccer.
PERSONAL: Born June 21, 1988, in Mission Viejo, Calif., to Jay (salesman) and Colleen (interior decorator) Love ... Has 1 brother (Matt, who played baseball at Biola) ... Majoring in exercise sport and science with a minor in business ... Wants to go into coaching after college.
