THIS YEAR: An important returnee to the Cougar defensive front, John Green is a physical force with a knack for pressuring quarterbacks ... Is expected to have an excellent season ... Known for his quickness and tenacity.

2007: Was a late addition to the Cougars, joining the team less than 2 weeks prior to the season-opener ... Went on to appear in 10 of the Cougars' 11 games, starting 5 at defensive end ... Recorded 27 tackles, which included 2.5 quarterback sacks ... Tallied a season-high 6 tackles vs. Southern Oregon ... Had 5 tackles and a sack in win over No. 23-ranked Malone.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Played the 2006 season at Fresno City College, where he helped lead the Rams to an 8-3 record ... Originally signed with NCAA Division I FCS Sacramento State before changing his mind and enrolling at Azusa Pacific prior to the start of the 2007 season.

FRESNO STATE: Walked on to the program at Fresno State where he spent the 2004 (redshirt) and 2005 (reserve) seasons ... Appeared in 1 game, recording a tackle.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played 1 season of varsity football at Luther Burbank High in Sacramento, Calif., from where he graduated in 2004 ... Played for head coach John Heffernan ... Also competed in rugby.
