THIS YEAR: With added size and strength, junior Tyler Davis is making the switch from quarterback to fullback in hopes of seeing added playing time ... Comes from a high school background in which he ran an option-style offense and therefore has experience running with the ball.

2007: Did not appear in any games during his 2007 redshirt sophomore season, serving as a backup quarterback.

2006: Did not appear in any games during his 2006 redshirt freshman season, serving as a backup quarterback.

2005: Redshirted his first season at Azusa Pacific.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played 3 seasons of varsity football for head coach Fred Romero at state power La Cueva High in Albuquerque, N.M. ... As a quarterback, led the Bears to back-to-back undefeated seasons and 28 consecutive victories while on their way to 2 New Mexico state 5A championships ... As a 2004 senior, was 55-of-97 passing for 1,050 yards and 19 TDs ... Threw for 1,100 yards and 22 TDs (school record) as a 2003 junior ... Was a All-Metro second team pick as both a quarterback and punter during his senior campaign.

PERSONAL: Born Feb. 27, 1987, in Albuquerque, N.M. to Craig (pastor) and Becky (orthodontic assistant) Davis ... Has 1 brother (Sean, former Cougar QB who is sixth on Azusa Pacific's all-time passing chart) ... Majoring in exercise and sport science.
