THIS YEAR: Redshirt freshman Chris Brown is set for his first collegiate action after redshirting the 2006 campaign ... Figures in a reserve role at the outset of the season ... Has good speed and may see time on special teams ... Could develop into an every-game player for an already strong Cougar defense.

2006: Redshirted the 2006 season while attending classes at Azusa Pacific and working out with the football team.

HIGH SCHOOL: Was a 2-year starter for head coach Mike Parsons at state power Modesto (Calif.) Christian High, playing both fullback and linebacker ... Was a key member of a Crusader program that went 23-3 and advanced to the CIF San Joaquin Section championship game in both 2005 and 2006 ... As a 2005 junior tallied 96 tackles and followed with 74 tackles during an injury-shortened 2006 senior campaign when he missed the final 5 weeks of the season ... As a running back rushed for 505 yards on 45 carries (11.2 avg.) ... Registered a pair of 100-yard rushing games during his senior season vs. Le Grand (104 on 11 carries) and Riverbank (106 on 7 carries) ... Also tallied a career-high 15 tackles vs. Riverbank ... Had 11 tackles, including a pair of sacks in a victory over Denair ... Also returned an interception 48 yards for a TD in a victory over Bret Harte ... Modesto Christian won a pair of league championships while going 13-0 in conference play during Brown’s 2 seasons on varsity ... Ran track & field (400 & 800) for 3 seasons.

PERSONAL: Born March 24, 1989, in Modesto, Calif. ... Parents are Jeff (nurse) and Kim (nurse) Brown ... Has a younger brother (Aaron) and a younger sister (Natalie) ... Majoring in biochemistry with the hope of becoming an orthopedic surgeon.
